Alex has had a keen interest in aviation and the outdoors for as long as he can remember. One of his earliest aviation experiences was with the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) Young Eagles program. Now an active member of COPA, Alex volunteers his time to give the next generation of youngsters an introduction to aviation.

Like many Canadian pilots, Alex started his flying career with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets' gliding and flying scholarship programmes.

To date, the list of aircraft types Alex has flown include: Schweitzer 2-33a (glider), Cessna-152, Cessna-172, Cessna-180 Floatplane, Bellanca Citabria, Druine Turbi, The Space Shuttle, and a Piper Warrior.

Also an accomplished fly tier, fisherman and hiker, Alex loves to combine these interests with his aviation career. Alex instructs on floatplanes and flies charters and sight-seeing tours for Fort Langley Air.
